
The Mayor & Township Council will hold a formal budget introduction meeting Monday, April 24, at 7 pm in the Berkeley Room at the Municipal Complex, 29 Park Ave. Members of Council, Mayor Devanney, Administration staff and the Township's finance firm will be participating in person for this meeting. Members of the public who are not able to attend the meeting in person will be able to comment by email to aminkoff@bhtwp.com or by writing letter to Township Clerk, 29 Park Ave, Berkeley Heights NJ 07922. Comments must be received by the Township Clerk by 4:00 PM on the date of the meeting. The meeting ID for attending the meeting via Zoom is http://zoom.us/s/3575747364 (if you need to enter the meeting ID, it is: 357-574-7364); please note that residents will be able to watch the meeting via Zoom but to ask questions, must attend in person or send questions in writing ahead of time following the above-mentioned procedures.
Representatives from Holman, Frenia, Allison, P.C. (HFA) will give a public budget presentation, given that April 24 is the date of the Township's official budget introduction. An ordinance to establish a cap bank for calendar year 2023 will also be introduced. Budget documents can be found here:
On March 27, the Mayor & Council had a public budget workshop, where HFA gave a presentation with the overview of the draft budget, update on revenues and other related financial data. That presentation can be found here.
During the regular agenda, the Council will vote on the following:
- Resolution authorizing the Township to apply for a grant from the NJ DEP for $25,000 to update stormwater maps
- Resolution authorizing a "side letter of agreement" with the Township's Department of Public Works, which constitutes the Teamsters Local Union 46
- Resolution supporting the Township's "Green Team"
- Introduction of an ordinance amending the Township salary ordinance for municipal employees
