[ARCHIVED] Donate Halloween Candy for Kids & Troops in Ukraine

candy

Have leftover Halloween candy that you want to get rid of? Or did your kids get WAY too much of the sweet stuff for their own good this year? Please drop it off at our drop box in the Town Hall lobby, beginning today. All candy donations will be sent to the children and troops in Ukraine. Adults and kids can also make a card, draw a picture or otherwise leave a message in the box that will also be sent to the troops and children in Ukraine.

The idea to send candy to kids and troops in Ukraine was that of Leo Garcia, a 7th grade Berkeley Heights resident at Columbia Middle School, whose mom works at Town Hall. Leo has always donated his candy to troops overseas, but this year, he wanted to be sure kids in Ukraine had a little cheering up as their country continues to battle Russian offensives. "With everything they are going through, I wanted to do something special for them so they knew people around the world are thinking about them and care," said Leo.

Candy will be collected today through November 18 at the dropbox in the Town Hall lobby; Town Hall is located at 29 Park Avenue. For voters who have Town Hall as their polling place, Tuesday November 8 (Election Day) is the perfect time to drop off your donation!

Thank you for supporting this effort.
