Please be advised that milling on Glenside Road will continue this afternoon during after-school hours on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Buses will be allowed in the work area to drop off local student residents. The BHPD is coordinating with the Berkeley Heights Public Schools Transportation department and Governor Livingston High School to ensure all bus drivers know they can access the area. BHPD and our Engineering Department are also coordinating with all officers at the site, as well as the paving crews, to ensure buses and local resident traffic can get through as needed. Residents who are local to this area can still access routes to their homes; just please tell the officers at the nearest work entrance that you are a local resident. All residents driving to GL can access the school via Murray Hill Boulevard, past Glenside Road on Mountain Ave. Please note that traffic going down Glenside Road from Hunterdon Blvd., down the hill toward Watchung Reservation, is only one-way currently - that is down the hill toward Glenside Avenue and the reservation.
For Wednesday, October 26, Tilcon will be paving Glenside Road. The logistics are as follows:
Paving will not begin until around 8:30 am, after all buses have come through the area for pickup.
Crews will start paving at the top of Glenside Road at Hunterdon Blvd; areas residents should exit/enter their adjacent neighborhoods in the Murray Hill area via Livingston/Burlington Road and Beattie (on the opposite side of Glenside Rd).
When the top portion is dry, paving will continue down the hill, which will then cut off access to to Livingston/Burlington Road and Beattie; but local residents can access their neighborhoods via Roland Road and Murray Hill Blvd to Hunterdon Blvd at the top of the hill.
Buses should be cleared to enter the work area at the top of the hill near Hunterdon by afternoon dropoff to access Roland Road and Beattie Way.
Those trying to access Governor Livingston from Mountain Avenue should do so via Murray Hill Boulevard to avoid the Glenside area altogether.
Please note that for the entire day of work, traffic heading from Hunterdon Blvd, down Glenside Road to Glenside Avenue (toward Watchung Reservation) will be one-way only, and that is down the hill toward the reservation. No traffic will be allowed up the hill from Glenside Avenue. Any residents needing to access this road must go down to McMane, to Diamond Hill, then Murray Hill Blvd to their final residential destination.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we improve our roadways and try to minimize disruption for our residents as much as possible given the scope of this project.
