Want to know what is being discussed by the Town Council at its next meeting?
The next Township Council meeting will be held on Tuesday October 5 at 7:00PM. Member of Council, Mayor Devanney, and Administration staff will be participating electronically via ZOOM in this meeting. For this and all future electronic meetings, members of the public will be able to comment by video and comments will also be accepted by email to aminkoff@bhtwp.com or by writer letter to Township Clerk, 29 Park Ave, Berkeley Heights NJ 07922. Comments must be received by the Township Clerk by 4:00 PM on the date of the ZOOM meeting. The meeting ID for the Zoom meeting is http://zoom.us/s/3575747364.
The first item on the agenda is a conference session on the Truth, Community Healing, and Inclusion Committee (formerly the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Committee).
The second item on the agenda is a public hearing and final adoption of an ordinance vacating a portion of Sherman Avenue in the Township of Berkeley Heights. As part of the Redevelopment Agreement with Stratton House, the Township is required to vacate this portion of Sherman Ave.
The council will vote on the following resolutions:
- Approve Bill List dated October 5, 2021 in the amount of $1,285,566.14 for vouchers that have been properly approved for processing and payment.
- Authorize changes to the scope of the Municipal Complex Redevelopment Project.
- Authorize the application of a DEP grant in the amount of $6,000 for the purchase, installation and maintenance of 1 Level 2 dual port EB charging station at the Municipal Complex.
- Authorize a change order, for a contract with Biosafe Systems, LLC, in the amount of $40,000. The Township Waste Water Treatment Plan began using Peracetic Acid in 2019 and the purchase contract was based on estimates. The actual use has exceeded the original estimates and therefore the contract needs to be amended.
- Approve a dedicated Trust by Rider for the acceptance of donations for the Township Festivals and related events.
- Authorize a tax settlement for 890 Mountain Avenue LLC, for the property located at 40 Diamond Hill Road.
- Authorize the waiving of certain permit fees for repairing structures damaged by Tropical storm Ida and related flooding.
The Council will introduce an ordinance amending Appendix A – Municipal Land Use Procedures Ordinance of the Municipal Code of the Township of Berkeley Heights to Revise Sign Regulations. These revised standards are part of the overall design standards for Berkeley Heights. The general intent of this part of the ordinance is to regulate and control the erection of signs within the Township to ensure an appropriate visual environment, increase property values and assist the general public in the location of various activities and businesses. If the introduction of this ordinance is approved, there will be a public hearing and final vote on this ordinance on October 15, 2021.
