Town Council Meeting Reminder - Tuesday, July 21 at 5:30
Don’t forget the Town Council meeting TONIGHT, with an Executive Session first.
At the July 21 Township Council Meeting, the Council will consider two key pieces of legislation relating to the new Municipal Complex, with the priority being to finish the building this year, and to provide a quality structure to house our Township offices, Library, Police Department, recreational facilities, and senior citizen facilities that our community will be proud of.
1. An amendment to the Redevelopment Agreement between the Township and Epic (municipal complex developer): This amendment sets new completion dates for Epic, includes stiffer penalties for unexcused delays, caps the amount of liquidated damages Epic can claim against the Township, and protects the Township from any costs relating to delays due to weather later in the year.
2. Introduction of a bond ordinance authorizing the Township to access up to - but not more than - $3.5 million dollars to finish the project and cover cost overruns primarily due to unsuitable soils. This ordinance will not increase taxes for residents.
Additionally, at the July 21 meeting there will be a public hearing and final adoption of two ordinances:
- Amended and restated development plan for the "Berkeley Florist" property (Block 502 lots 1-5), and
- Approving an application for a long term tax exemption and authorizing the execution of a financial agreement with Berkeley Crossing II Urban Renewal, LLC
