Councilwoman Susan Poage is a longtime teacher at Mary Kay McMillan Early Childhood Center, teaching Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Her accomplishments in the classroom led her to receive the coveted Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematical and Science Teaching in 2008, receiving the award from the President of the United States, President Obama, at a White House ceremony. Susan has actively sought and written grants to help students at Mary Kay McMillan obtain materials and programs to augment their curriculum. Councilwoman Poage and her husband, Russell, have lived in Berkeley Heights since 1993, and raised two daughters, who went through our public schools. She currently serves on the Township Planning Board.
