About Manuel

Councilman Manuel Couto is a proud township member for over 21 years, and has been on Town Council for the last two years. He is active in the community: volunteering with various organizations in town, such as the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council. You can find him around town most days. Councilman Couto loves Restaurant Week, and supporting local business and the community. He encourage discussion, transparency and community participation at Town Council meetings and the scheduled meet-and-greets.

Councilman Couto is a Rutgers graduate, member of the National Association of Realtors, past professional Standards Chair for the NJ Association of Realtors, and has spent 30 years as a realtor and a self-employed businessman. He emphasizes that collaboration and cooperation are important to the success of any endeavor. You can usually find Manny at the Council meetings early in case residents with to discuss issues before the meeting, or in a local business supporting the community.   But he is most proud of his family; his wife, Maria and three children have supported him and the community for years. Manny is the Council representative for the Downtown Beautification Committee, Peppertown Park Committee, and is also active on the Memorial Park Renewal Committee.
